ELICOS market analysis: November 2022
ELICOS commencements continue to positively rebound with 143.1% growth on November 2021. Enrolments increased by 80.3%.
Market highlights
- Commencements from China increased by 9.3% or 765 additional students versus YTD November 2021. Chinese students made up 13.1% of commencements within ELICOS.
- Commencements from Colombia increased by 264.0% or 8,506 additional students, commencements from Brazil increased by 391.4% or 6,634 additional students.
- Commencements from Thailand increased by 917.7% YTD.
ELICOS only grants back to pre-pandemic levels
Overall, student visa grants were up across all sectors by 305.91% (or 40,215 more grants) in November 2022, compared with November 2021, which is a considerable increase from last month.
However, grant rates in November 2022 for Thailand were 65.7% and 74.8% for Mongolia. Grant rates for other top source countries for November 2022 were almost 90% or higher.
ELICOS only lodgements
ELICOS only visa lodgements were 6.5 times higher in November 2022 YTD, with 5,146 total lodgements.
Top Nationalities Granted and Lodged
The top source country for ELICOS only lodgements is still Colombia, with 1,719 lodgements made in November 2022. The top source country for grants in November 2022 is Columbia again, with 2,276 applications granted.
The top three nationalities for visas granted are again Colombia, Brazil, and Thailand, with a combined total of 3,881 visas granted in November 2022. The top three nationalities for visas lodged are also Colombia, Brazil, and Thailand with a combined total of 3,190 visas lodged in November 2022.
