From India to Nepal, Bhutan and Pakistan, there is significant pent-up demand from prospective students eager to gain an education and work experience in Australia.
This step-change in demand for a quality Australian education has increased pressure on both the visa processing ecosystem as well as education counsellors. New student visa applicants are experiencing longer visa processing backlogs, delaying their ability to commence onshore on time. In parallel, education agency counsellors are faced with a barrage of questions from prospective students and their parents about study, work and living situation in Australia.
ETS TOEFL and Successful Graduate have joined forces to combat some of these issues. Leveraging the Successful Graduate platform, ETS TOEFL have introduced relevant online modules, from comprehensive pre-departure modules for AAERI network education agency counsellors to improve upon their knowledge base, increase their confidence and provide their agencies a springboard for professional development and staff retention. As well, student-oriented modules from Finding Part-Time Work, to Professional Networking are being progressively introduced.
The two companies plan to expand this initiative to other countries across the sub-continent and to extend further Successful Graduate services to eligible graduating international students on-shore in Australia.

Successful Graduate Pre-Departure Course
Successful Graduate’s Pre-Departure Course for International Students consists of 8 online modules in total, with 4 – 7 units per module. Students can take the course on any device at their own pace. Each module is designed to prepare international students for their study abroad journey to Australia, and will support student recruitment, orientation and retention initiatives. The course is designed to be part of a package of online courses that are offered to students through a co-branded employability training platform, custom-built to support the value proposition of each institution.
Duration: 12 hours
Materials: Text, Videos, Infographics, Quizzes
Focus: Preparing for student life in Australia, developing a growth mindset, travel checklists, managing accommodation, visa, lifestyle, orientation, transport, financial and wellbeing decisions.
Takeaways: LinkedIn microcredential and Certificate
Future courses for students in the sub-continent will cover topics such as preparing to find part-time or casual work while maintaining a work / study balance, soft skills development including critical thinking and problem solving, developing confidence, resilience and internship skills.
