- The VET sector experienced an increase in commencements at 33.5% or 24,789 additional students when compared to YTD June 2022.The Non-award sector experienced an increase in commencements at 175.8% or 8,024 additional students versus YTD June 2022.
Visa trends:
ELICOS only grants up by over 100%
The Independent ELICOS sector grants were up in June 2023 by over 100%, compared with June 2022, with 2,906 more grants.
Offshore grants for Independent ELICOS were up by 84.68% in June 2023, with 2,371 more grants, compared to June 2022. Onshore grants for Independent ELICOS were 5.5 times higher, with 535 more grants. ELICOS only visas granted to citizens from China were 375% higher and 1.8 times higher for citizens from Vietnam in June 2023 compared to June 2022. ELICOS visa grants for citizens from Mongolia were 11 times higher, and were up by over 125% for citizens from Colombia, while grants to citizens from Chile were up by over 104% for the same comparison period.
Over 6,600 total ELICOS only lodgements
The total number of Independent ELICOS visa applications lodged for June 2023 was up by almost 23% compared to June 2022, with 6,601 total lodgements. There were 387 more ELICOS only lodgements from Mongolian citizens in June 2023 compared with June 2022.
